Solis Aerospace offers a diverse range of facilities and tailored solutions, leveraging advanced technology and expertise in sheet metal forming, fabrication, and assembly processes. We take pride in our extensive knowledge base, which ensures exceptional craftsmanship and reliability, addressing the dynamic requirements of the aerospace and defence sectors. In these industries, material behavior, forming precision, and surface finish are crucial for safety and operational performance. Our areas of competency:
Forming & Processing
The process encompasses specialised techniques for shaping metal in order to achieve precise geometries, tolerances, and material properties, particularly within aerospace and high-performance applications. Key processes include:
Hydraulic Press Forming of Aluminum, Steel, Titanium, Inconel and other special alloys

Titanium Hot Forming
Utilises elevated temperatures to enhance the ductility of titanium alloys, thereby facilitating the fabrication of intricate shapes with minimal spring-back. This process is essential for the production of thin-walled aerospace components that require a high strength-to-weight ratio.
Titanium Hot Sizing (Ti Hot Sizing)
Addresses dimensional discrepancies following the initial forming or heat treatment processes, ensuring precise tolerances and stability in critical aerospace components.
Besides Check & Straighten, Shrinking & Stretching, and Planishing.
Trim & Assembly
The completion of precise operations following the formation process is essential for finalising component dimensions, joining structures, and ensuring surface quality. Key processes such as welding, routing, riveting, and polishing play a crucial role in delivering components and assemblies that are ready for integration in aerospace applications and high-specification engineering projects.
Common Alloys Formed & Fabricated
Solis Aerospace specialises in the forming and fabrication of aerospace-grade and high-performance alloys. These include Titanium Alloys, specifically Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), and a variety of aluminum alloys such as the 2000 series (Al-Cu), 5000 series (Al-Mg), 6000 series (Al-Mg-Si), and 7000 series (Al-Zn). Additionally, it can form Stainless Steel grades 301, 321, and 347, selected for their superior strength, corrosion resistance, weldability, and formability.
Thermal Processing
We provide a range of heat treatment processes designed to alter the physical and mechanical properties of metals and alloys. This method involves precise control of heating and cooling to achieve specific objectives such as enhanced strength, improved ductility, stress relief, and increased hardness. These alterations are critical in applications within the aerospace, defence, and precision manufacturing sectors.
Process | Typical Applications |
---|---|
Annealing | Pre-forming, post-welding conditioning. |
Stress Relieving | Post-welding, machining, and forming. |
Age Hardening | Commonly used with aluminium (2000, 7000 series), titanium, and nickel alloys. |
Inspection Capabilities
Precision inspection is a critical component in ensuring that formed, fabricated, or assembled components adhere to required dimensional, mechanical, and surface quality specifications. Our inspection processes employ industry-standard tools and calibrated equipment, enabling us to confirm compliance at every production stage.
Inspection Method | Applications |
---|---|
Rockwell Hardness Testing | Confirms mechanical properties after heat treatment |
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) | Validates complex geometries, tolerances, and alignments |
Precision Measuring Tools | Routine dimensional checks during and after fabrication |
Certified Surface Tables | Used for part alignment, squareness, and flatness checks |
QMS
A Quality Management System (QMS) is the framework that aerospace component manufacturers use to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, process control, and customer satisfaction. Against this backdrop, Solis Aerospace emphasises continuous improvement and adheres to industry best practices, control over costs, customer insights, and consistent, high-quality outcomes. Solis Aerospace ensures consistency, traceability, stringent document control, and efficient project planning.
Element | Purpose |
---|---|
AS9100D / ISO 9001 Compliance | Ensures the QMS meets International Aerospace Industry Standards for quality, safety, and traceability. |
